A suspected man of drug abuse rammed squad cars in Brooklyn Park

Bruce Alan Austreng was arrested after allegedly ramming several Brooklyn Park squad cars. He was booked for fifth-degree drug possession, fleeing police in a motor vehicle, fourth-degree driving while intoxicated, and obstruction of legal process with force. The Brooklyn Park Police Department (BPPD) was called to the area around 1:45 a.m. after a report of a slumped-over person behind the wheel of a running car. They found a smoking apparatus in plain view. Austreng refused to leave the vehicle or submit to a DWI investigation. After negotiating with law enforcement for nearly 40 minutes, Austreng rammed police squad cars back and forth in an attempt to escape. Eventually, BPPD officers broke a car window and used a Taser to arrest him.
